Travel: Zanzibar

I stayed on the East Coast of Zanzibar, on Paje Beach for a week. I traveled into Stone Town a few times on photography / exploratory ventures with my brother and parents, feeling very much like Japanese tourists.

The goal was to take the best photo between us. Which set up great competition. Especially between myself and my mom. She took some winners, but i think I won. ha ha.

Highlights include: Water you can’t drink, but they use it for ice in your clean water thus defeating the purpose. My bags were stolen at the airport. We got lost in the forest. Oh good times.

So beautiful and yet so ugly.

Event: Butlers Pizza Workers Day Piece Party

Another Bizarre Ride to the Pizza Side, this party was held at the owner of Butler’s own house, in Newlands. It was a media frenzy. I was the media. It was a frenzy, although I didn’t have a huge amount of friends there. Cue Drum-roll.

i was ‘Social Media Content Director’ Essentially I took photographs:

I shot and edited all the video’s:

I provided media content for the large 24″ screens nestled about the place.

I also uploaded all the photo’s , captured and tagged something like 150 people across 400 photo’s. It was a huge endeavor, and great fun

Event: Lightly Salted Exhibition

With the planet of a task ahead, gathering my photography together, I’ve decided to dig into my archives and start adding my collections one at a time – pretty much at random.

This shoot was for an art exhibition in Long Street, Cape Town.

My good friend, Kyle had his hands behind a camera too for some snaps, as we were to head out and shoot a multi-camera all night timelapse in Scarborough straight afterward. It was a long night. Brandy came into play in the wee hours, but that is for another post.

22 November 2011

The Secrecy Bill was passed in South Africa. This highly controversial bill allows any organ of state from goverment right down to small municipality to declare any document as classified, and allowing for them the option to criminalise whistleblowers with sentences of up to 25 years in the tronk.

On 22 Nov, #blacktuesday trended on twitter, marking the end of freedom in the press, and further reinforcing the general opinion that the ruling ANC is no longer the party it once was.

My Filmography Showreel

As a 2008 AFDA Graduate, I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a team of keen students, including myself, an ARRI SR3, and some 16mm film.

Here’s a little clip I cut together, of some of my favorite shots from films I shot between 2007 – 2009. It also includes the first music video I shot: ‘Carry Me Away‘ by a local Cape Town Band A B Turbo. This I shot on a Canon 7D using a bunch of cool lenses that I rented to play with.

Fun.

Welcome to 2012

As my first official duty of the new Year, I have decided to start a Blog.

I have chosen ‘Piano Black theme’. I may change it.

……… Hiiiiiiiiii

Awkward, I’ve quickly realised that my second duty will be to immediately bury this depressing intro deep into my archives by plastering portfolio  paraphernalia on this page.

It’s Sad.

Welcome to my world. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
